Our
two-year project grant for NTRTC followed the completion
of a three-year project grant from the NSF for
Advancing
Careers in Technology and Science (ACTS). The ACTS grant
developed and enhanced secondary and college curriculum in
technical subjects; developed technical summer camps for
middle school students; trained high school and college
faculty in wireless telecommunications, electronics and
router technology; and provided support to faculty to
upgrade their teaching credentials. |
| |
|
During this grant period, the
consortium saw a cumulative increase in students enrolling
in technology programs, an increase in public awareness of
career options in science and technology and an increase
in faculty expertise and upgrading of credentials. |
| |
|
The NTRTC grant was an
outgrowth of this project, adding one college to the
consortium (Richland College) and focusing on technology
integration (The Convergence Lab at CCCCD) and its broad
application to the region’s higher education institutions
and businesses. |
